In January, Perspectives on the World Christian Movement, a course developed by the U.S. Center for World Mission, began here at King's Way! This represents the first time that the Perspectives has been offered in the Rio Grande Valley. The course textbook was written by 105 experts in Christian missions and was created specifically for the Perspectives course. The textbook is available in Chinese and Korean, with translations into at least five other languages under development. We believe that implementing Perspectives as the heart of Kings Ways missions program will fan the flame of mission interest and activity among the students and community. With community participation by members and leaders of several local churches, Perspectives provides an opportunity to build unity in the local Body of Christ and strengthen Kings Ways connection with local churches and ministries. The course is taught by visiting teachers and local mission workers and pastors, offering students exposure to varying viewpoints and mission experiences. Class time includes a time of worship, teaching, review, powerful illustrations and video presentations. Perspectives is a college-level course. Students can choose to take the class on a certificate level for enrichment or on a credit level for undergraduate or graduate credit hours. Classes are held Monday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30. We plan to offer this course each spring semester.
